Kaohsiung and Ocean God’s Pools
On the seventh day we got up very early in the morning to catch the sunrise at Lotus Lake (Pond Lotus), where are located the Dragon and Tiger Pagodas, the Spring and Autumn Pavilions or Zuoying Yuandi Temple. Getting up early paid off, the sunrise looked great and we were completely alone by the lake. We also witnessed a duck rescue mission, which was probably stuck in a fishing lure. Everything turned out well, but it was really dramatic situation
Ocean God’s Pools
After visiting the city and all those sacred places, we had a real adventure at Ocean God’s Pools. These are pools in the river, into which smaller waterfalls flow. Pools have beautiful blue and clear water. Admission is paid here depending on whether the lady comes to work. Entrance fee cost us 50 TWD per person. We parked and headed upstream. We went through its river basin for a while, because the river was completely dry. After about the first km, we understood that it will not be so easy. The journey required rock climbing and swimming to other shores. That’s why we had to leave all our things on one rock at the first obstacle (we were terribly afraid of them, but we had nothing to do) and we only took a camera and Tom’s cell phone with us.
All this swimming, jumping into the water, climbing the rope was a real adventure, but sometimes also demanding. The boys usually had to pull Anet out of the water because it was very slippery, but otherwise we managed it very well. After about two hours, we arrived at the final waterfall, which disappointed us a bit – the water was not so clean, so we turned and bathed properly in the ponds on the way back.
It was a really unforgettable experience. We didn’t meet anyone all the way and we had pools for ourselves. Only on the way back we met a few individuals at the beginning of the route. And we sill cannot believe that our things were where we left them for 3 hours, completely untouched, Taiwan is a safe country and the people here are very decent. This would probably never happen in the Czech Republic: D
